A 15-minute consultation is provided via phone to discuss concerns, share information such as previous evaluations, and gather relevant documents on your child's level of speech and language skills. A consultation is used to determine if an evaluation is needed.

A speech/language evaluation is conducted to measure your child's speech and language skills. Skills can be assessed during play, through parent interview, and using formal tests. Following the evaluation, a comprehensive evaluation report is provided, which includes eligibility for speech language therapy, frequency and duration of therapy, beneficial therapy programs, and classroom modifications.

Evaluation areas include:

  • verbal comprehension
  • verbal expression
  • articulation
  • stuttering
  • reading
  • writing
  • social skills
  • feeding/swallowing

Speech and language therapy sessions are provided in your home/daycare to maximize carryover of skills. Sessions are 30 to 45 minutes, depending on attention span.
